Lunch at Kiasu Restaurant at Bayswater

Think only Singaporeans can relate to the name of this restaurant. The carrot cake and laksa are given thumbs up but the Hokkien Prawn noodle and Chendol (not pictured) is just so-so. The wordings on the wall are also very interesting.

Tower Bridge 10 June 2007

After visiting Scotland and France, we realised actually we have not seen very much of London. And we are going to leave London soon. So we spent the day at London bridge and Tower bridge. Was too late to visit Tower of London thou.

Paris 2-4 June 2007

Day 1
2 mistakes before starting Paris trip
1) Big boo boo resulting in flying instead of taking Eurostar.
2) Again the kiasu me, booked the earliest available flight (07:25hrs). Only had 4 hours sleep as I had to do OT until 9pm the night before.

Anyway, we made our way to Paris city, after some hiccups at the train gantry. We stayed at the Hotel Excelsior near Latin Quartiers, near Luxemburg train station. Getting directions in french didn't help - a gauche(left), a droite(right)...alamak. Thanks to Jiun's Frommers guide, we finally reached the hotel. Met by boh-chap male reception, dropped bags and went for lunch. WaiMeng had his sashimi lunch - satisfied.

Next stop - Luxemburg Gardens.

Followed by Notre Dame Cathedral and Berthillon Ice Cream

Seems like Saturday is a big day for eating out in Europe. Again we were turned away by the recommended restaurants in Frommers. Finally settled for pizza and pasta, but shortly realised why they were still empty. But I was too tired to care. Retired early that evening.

Day 2
Next day, after a 10 hour sleep and delicious croissant breakfast, we headed out for the Louvre and Effiel Tower. The Louvre Museum is free every 1st Sunday of the month so we were lucky.

Had dinner at Place Monge. Not a good experience, service was bad. Waitress could not speak English and got our orders wrong. Take it or leave it attitude. WM says I must post it here to warn people against going. Think the restaurant next door looks better.

Day 3
Last day in Paris was basically LV shopping day. Who can resist a purchase at that huge dream shop ... txs hub.

MIA

Have been missing in action for a long while since last blog. Many reasons -
  • WaiMeng was busy with exams in April/May = no interesting activity to report. Basically going to work, coming home, cook, watch TVB drama - Revolving Doors of Vengence, sleep => Boring.
  • When exams were over, I started on new assignment. Usual excitment of doing something new + uncertainty...
  • Disturbing eye infection
  • Squeezed in a trip to Dublin. Had my first taste of Guinness Stout.
  • Daddy, Mummy and Jiun came over to visit + short trips to Paris and Edinburgh.

Including trip to Dublin, WM and I were at Heathrow 8 times over the last 3 weeks! Think we should take a rest from travelling, stay in London to enjoy the summer.
