It's Snowing ...

After 2 freezing nights, this Wednesday (24 Jan) it snowed overnight. Just a light layer in the morning, but what a pretty sight ...

Greenwich Mean Time

As the weather turns a little warmer last weekend, we decided to do some sightseeing. Destination: Greenwich.

We took the tube/DLR to Cutty Sark Station. But break our journey at Canary Wharf to have lunch at Nandos. Great Portugese flame grilled chicken. Both WaiMeng and I vote coleslaw and corn on the cob as favourite sides.

The Royal Observatory is a short walk uphill from Cutty Sark Station.

Pant, pant ... and we're finally there

The Royal Observatory, home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian line, is one of the most important historic scientific sites in the world. It was founded by Charles II in 1675 and is, by international decree, the official starting point for each new day, year and millennium (at the stroke of midnight GMT as measured from the Prime Meridian).

Hello 2007!

Happy New Year 2007. New year resolution is to see more of UK, Ireland and make a trip to Prague and Spain.

As public transport don't even run on Christmas day, we stayed at home and had Christmas lunch with roast chicken drumstick, yorkshire pudding, mash potatoes, vegetables and bubby peach champagne.

Boxing day is the start of post christmas shopping, we went down to Oxford Street almost on the 1st train in the morning and started our day at Debenhams. Managed to grab a pair of jeans before the crowds came in.

The week between Christmas and New Year was a quiet week. Most people were on leave.

Last Sat we went to Windsor. Took the Southwest train from London Waterloo to Windsor, an hours journey but the trains are clean and comfy. Visited the Windsor Castle, supposedly the Queen's favourite Castle. The castle is magnificient, reminds me of the Korean drama GONG, bet they came to London to do their research. The castle entrance tickets of GBP13 for an adult allows visitor to go back for visits within a 12 month period. So we decided to leave at noon before visiting the chapel as we were both famished. Had lunch at a Ha Ha Canteen, I had homemade fish fingers while WaiMeng had beef stew - good lunch. Afterwhich its shopping time again. We left at about 4pm as it turns dark and started to rain. Windsor is a nice place and actually we could have taken the train from Richmond which would half the journey time.

New Years Eve is another shopping day ... at Knightsbridge Harrods.

Bought the Harrods plastic bag as it was on half price.

Still can't resist a stop at Chinatown, bought winter melon to make soup as a New Year treat.

This year has started well, Singapore stock market is doing well and economy is strong. To a sucessful and fun 2007, good health and world peace!
